100272 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Parent SKU too long (over 40 bytes)

The Parent SKU (child_parent_sku_relationship) exceeds the 40-byte maximum.

Why it happens The parent SKU name is too long.

How to fix
  1. Shorten the parent SKU to 40 characters or fewer, then re-create the family referencing the shorter parent SKU.

Example The attribute child_parent_sku_relationship is invalid because it is exceeding the maximum limit of 40 bytes.

100521 Info Listing / catalogue feed

Listing under review (informational)

Amazon is reviewing the listing to decide whether more information is needed. This is not an error.

Why it happens A new or changed listing pending automated review.

How to fix
  1. No action needed — allow up to 48 hours.
  2. If it hasn't cleared after 48 hours, check for a separate compliance or attribute request.

Example We are reviewing this listing to determine if any additional information is required. Please allow up to 48 hours.

100720 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Attribute mis-tagged language (suppressed)

An attribute is tagged with the wrong language for the marketplace (e.g. en_GB values on a DE/FR/IT/ES page), so Amazon suppresses it or shows a machine translation.

Why it happens A language_tag mismatch — a flat file or cloned offer carried en_GB into a non-UK marketplace.

How to fix
  1. Set the correct language_tag for the marketplace on each localised attribute.
  2. Replace the local-language slice and remove the mis-tagged en_GB values — a plain overwrite can leave the en_GB copy behind.

Example Attribute suppressed: value supplied with language_tag en_GB does not match the marketplace language.

Product type is catalog-level (can't change by feed)

You tried to set/change an ASIN's product type, but product type is controlled at the catalog level — a seller feed can't change it.

Why it happens Submitting a different product_type than the ASIN already has — e.g. to force it into a variation family of another type.

How to fix
  1. Match your product_type to the ASIN's existing type.
  2. To actually change the type, open a Seller Central case/appeal, or relaunch as a new ASIN of the correct type.
  3. A mismatched child also can't join a variation family until its type matches the family.

⚠ This usually needs a Seller Central appeal or a new ASIN — not just a file edit.

Example Update your product type to match the ASIN, then submit an appeal.

138263 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Pesticide certification number required

The product type requires a pesticide certification number (or an exemption).

Why it happens The pesticide certification attribute is blank for a product Amazon classes as needing it.

How to fix
  1. Provide the pesticide certification number that corresponds to the marking type.
  2. If it shouldn't apply, check the product type — the listing may be mis-categorised into a pesticide type.

Example Provide any pesticide certification number which corresponds with the marking type.

18448 Warning Listing / catalogue feed

Recommended attributes incomplete (warning)

A relevant/recommended attribute group is incomplete. Non-blocking, but it weakens discoverability and listing quality.

Why it happens Recommended fields left blank (e.g. primary_supplement_type).

How to fix
  1. Provide the listed recommended attributes (e.g. primary_supplement_type).
  2. The listing still processes — filling these improves search eligibility.

Example Attributes marked as relevant_attributes are incomplete. Provide values for: primary_supplement_type.

65824 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Food Business Operator (FBO) details required

EU food / drink / supplement listings require Food Business Operator details — name and full address including postcode.

Why it happens The FBO attribute group is blank on an EU marketplace food/supplement listing.

How to fix
  1. Provide the Food Business Operator name and full address, including the postal code.
  2. Required for food, drink and supplement listings across EU marketplaces.

Example food_business_operator_information ... fbo_postal_code is required.

8005 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Can't change an identity attribute on a live SKU

You tried to modify an identity attribute on an existing SKU. Amazon locks identity attributes once a SKU is live.

Why it happens Editing EAN/UPC/GTIN, product type, or another immutable identity field on a SKU that already exists.

How to fix
  1. Leave identity attributes (product ID / EAN / UPC, product type) unchanged on a live SKU.
  2. If you only need to change offer or descriptive data, submit a Partial Update with just those fields — omit the identity columns.
  3. If the identity genuinely must change, create a NEW SKU with the correct value; you can't mutate it in place.

Example You are trying to modify an identity attribute for this SKU. To continue, delete this SKU and recreate it with the correct identity attribute.

8032 Warning Listing / catalogue feed

Child assigned to more than one parent

A child SKU is being attached to more than one parent, which isn't allowed.

Why it happens The child already sits under a different parent, or the file lists it under two parents.

How to fix
  1. A child can belong to only one parent.
  2. Detach the child from its current parent first, then assign it to the new parent and resubmit.

Example We're unable to assign a child SKU to more than one parent SKU. Delete the child SKU, then assign it to a new parent SKU and resubmit.

83367 Warning Listing / catalogue feed

Ingredient identifier / strength incomplete

For supplements and foods, you must pair each ingredient strength with its ingredient identifier. Non-blocking, but hurts listing quality.

Why it happens An ingredient strength was given without the matching ingredient identifier (or vice versa).

How to fix
  1. Provide the ingredient identifier for each ingredient whose strength you specify, with the value and unit.

Example Provide the identifier for the ingredient for which the ingredient strength is being specified.

Listing data conflicts with the Amazon catalog

The data you sent differs from what's already on the ASIN. Your item_id maps to an existing ASIN, but one or more attributes contradict the catalog.

Why it happens You're matching to an existing ASIN but sent a different EAN / standard_product_id, title, or other catalog-controlled attribute.

How to fix
  1. Match the conflicting attribute — most often standard_product_id / EAN — exactly to the existing ASIN.
  2. To add your offer to an existing ASIN, submit offer-only fields and omit catalog-controlled attributes.
  3. If your data is right and the catalog is wrong, the brand/catalog owner must correct it (or appeal).

Example The listing data provided is different from what is already in the Amazon catalog. The item_id maps to ASIN Bxxxxxxxxx, but some listing data conflicts with the catalog.

90041 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Missing required fields (often product type)

Amazon couldn't process the file because required fields are missing — very often product_type is blank.

Why it happens product_type#1.value empty, or another always-required column left blank across the record.

How to fix
  1. Set a Product Type on every record — it is always required to process an update.
  2. Fill all columns the template marks required, then resubmit.

Example product_type#1.value is always required to process your update. Please provide a value and resubmit.

90057 Error Any feed

Invalid value (not in the allowed set)

A field holds a value that isn't in Amazon's valid set for that column (e.g. Listing Action / record_action, or Fulfilment Channel).

Why it happens A typo, an old template, a manual copy-paste into a constrained cell, or a value that isn't on the dropdown.

How to fix
  1. Pick the value from the dropdown / valid-values list for that exact column.
  2. Use the latest template version and avoid copy-pasting into constrained cells.
  3. Example: a Fulfilment Channel of 'AMAZON_EU' is rejected — use the allowed channel code.

Example The fulfillment-channel field contains an invalid value: AMAZON_EU. Choose only from the valid set of values in your template.

90111 Error Price & inventory feed

Invalid price / not a valid currency

A price (or numeric) field contains a value Amazon can't read as a valid currency/number.

Why it happens A currency symbol, a thousands comma, the wrong decimal separator, trailing text, or the cell formatted as text.

How to fix
  1. Enter the price as a plain number, e.g. 15.99 — no currency symbol, no comma.
  2. Use a dot as the decimal separator and set the cell format to Number/General.
  3. Check regional formatting hasn't turned 15.99 into '15,99' or text.

Example The price field contains an invalid value: 15.99. The value "15.99" is not a valid CURRENCY.

90117 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Value exceeds the character limit

A field is longer than the maximum characters allowed (commonly 500).

Why it happens An over-long attribute value — description, keywords or another free-text field.

How to fix
  1. Trim the field to the stated limit (often 500 characters).
  2. Check for hidden or duplicated text pasted into the cell.

Example The value exceeds the maximum number of characters allowed: 500.

90147 Error Price & inventory feed

Sale price isn't below the list price

A purchasable_offer (sale) value isn't lower than or equal to the standard price — your sale price is at or above your list price.

Why it happens Sale/discount price set equal to or above the list price, or the standard price left blank.

How to fix
  1. Set the sale price strictly below the standard (list) price.
  2. Make sure the standard price is present and higher than the sale price.

Example A 'purchasable_offer' value '20.' is not less than or equal to the 'offers' value '19.99'.

90220 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Required attribute not supplied

A required attribute was left blank on the record. On a variation family the PARENT must carry the core required attributes itself — it does not inherit them from its children.

Why it happens Empty required cells. The classic case is an empty variation-parent row, or leaving Amazon's grey example row in the file.

How to fix
  1. Fill every attribute the template flags as required on the named record.
  2. On a variation parent, populate Title, Brand, Product Description, Bullet Points, Country of Origin, Variation Theme, Recommended Browse Nodes, Dangerous Goods and 'Are batteries required?' — even though the parent isn't buyable.
  3. Delete Amazon's sample/example row before uploading.

Example 'Product Description' is required but not supplied.

90225 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Search keywords exceed the maximum (500)

The Search Terms / keywords value is longer than the maximum allowed (500 characters).

Why it happens Too many or too long search terms.

How to fix
  1. Trim search terms to under 500 characters in total.
  2. Remove duplicates and any words already present in your title.

Example The value for 'Search Terms' is greater than the maximum allowed (500 characters).

90244 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Value not accepted — choose an approved option

A constrained attribute has a value Amazon won't accept; you must pick an approved value from the list for your category.

Why it happens A free-typed or wrong value for a controlled attribute (e.g. Product Expiration Type, or a Certification / Compliance value).

How to fix
  1. Select an approved value from the dropdown for that attribute in your category.
  2. E.g. Product Expiration Type must be an allowed option; a Certification must be a recognised value (or 'Not Applicable' where allowed).

Example We can't accept the 'Expiration On Package' you entered for Product Expiration Type. Select an approved value from the list for your product category.

90253 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Child is missing its parent link

A child record doesn't declare its parent — the parent-SKU relationship attribute is missing.

Why it happens A child row without child_parent_sku_relationship / Parent SKU set.

How to fix
  1. On each child set the Parent SKU (child_parent_sku_relationship) with relationship type = variation.
  2. Also set Parentage Level = child and the Variation Theme to match the parent.

Example Attribute child_parent_sku_relationship is missing.

97779 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Search terms over the byte limit

The generic keywords / search terms field exceeds Amazon's byte limit for that field (~250 bytes per marketplace).

Why it happens Search terms too long — or Amazon's example row (with placeholder keywords) left in the file.

How to fix
  1. Shorten the search terms to under the byte limit (~250 bytes).
  2. Drop duplicates and words already in your title.
  3. Remove Amazon's sample/example row — its placeholder keywords trip this.

Example Please reduce your generic keyword length to less than the allowed bytes.

99010 Error Listing / catalogue feed

Conditionally-required group is incomplete

A group of interdependent fields must be filled together; one is blank, so the whole group fails.

Why it happens Example: the expiration group — Is Product Expirable = Yes, but Product Expiration Type or Shelf Life left blank.

How to fix
  1. Fill every field in the flagged group together — they're interdependent.
  2. Expiration example: Is Product Expirable = Yes, Product Expiration Type = 'Expiration On Package', Fulfilment Center Shelf Life = your value.

Example A value is missing from one or more required columns from this group: [is_expiration_dated_product = "Yes"], [product_expiration_type = "Expiration On Package"].

99022 Error Listing / catalogue feed

A dimension is missing a value

A measurement attribute (e.g. Package Dimensions height) doesn't have the minimum required values.

Why it happens A dimension left blank, or missing its number or unit.

How to fix
  1. Provide the missing dimension value and its unit (e.g. package height + cm).
  2. Check length, width, height and weight are each filled with a number and a unit.

Example The 'height' field for 'Package Dimensions' does not have enough values. The minimum required is 1 value.
