Module 09 · Shelf Intelligence

Your account looks flawless. Rank is decided on the shelf.

Your console reports on you. It can't see the competitor quietly taking your position.

Every Amazon dashboard tells you about you — your sales, your ads, your rank. None of them watch the shelf you actually compete on: who ranks against your real search terms, who's closing the gap, who just launched. We watch it for you, so a rank slide stops being a surprise.

The setup

Your campaigns can be perfect and your rank can still slide — because the move that cost you happened on a competitor's listing, not yours. The console has no feed for that. The shelf is the one battlefield it can't show you.

What it watches
Who's actually competing — not a guessed category list, but the rival listings sharing your real search terms (from SQP): the ones your customers see right next to you.
Threat detection — which rivals are closing the BSR gap on you, flagged before they overtake; which are fading and safe to ignore.
Shelf position over time — your rank against theirs on the terms that matter, tracked week over week, not a one-off snapshot.
Price moves on your conversion — their price changes plotted against your CVR (the ⚔ overlay), so a conversion dip lines up with the rival who caused it. (Price coverage varies by category.)
The proof

Caught the challenger before it overtook

On the D-Mannose example, the brand holds category BSR #4 — a winning position. The shelf view still flagged one challenger as a close threat, surfaced while it was still climbing, not after it had taken the rank.

#4
category rank held — with one rival flagged "close threat" early. The move to defend it (content, bid, or price) is one you can only make if you can see the shelf coming.
What it changes
Defend rank early — act on a closing threat with content, bids or price before it overtakes, not in the post-mortem.
Know your real rivals — the listings on your search terms, not a generic "category leaders" list that misses who's actually next to you.
Read efficiency against the shelf — tell when a soft week was a rival's move, not your campaigns, so you fix the right lever.
The takeaway
Why this matters

Your console is a mirror — it shows you, in detail, and nothing else. But the shelf is where rank is actually decided. We give you the one view that faces outward — a third eye on the competition the dashboards can't see.

Want to see who's really competing for your customers — and which challenger is closing the gap?
